Physio-Led Pilates Classes in Exeter
Physio-led Pilates can enhance your mobility, strength and reduce your pain.
Our Pilates classes run at Boulder Exe and are led by Laura Rutterford, one of our Chartered Physiotherapists. Because Laura is a physio first, every class is shaped by a clinical understanding of how joints, muscles and movement patterns actually work, not just a set routine of exercises. That means real-time modifications for anyone managing a niggle, recovering from injury, or simply wanting to build core strength, control and mobility in a small, friendly group.
We understand how challenging it can be to get the help you need. But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Why physio-led Pilates
Most Pilates classes are taught by Pilates instructors, which is a great qualification in its own right. The difference with a physio-led class is that Laura can spot when someone's form needs adjusting because of how their hip, spine or shoulder is actually moving, not just because an exercise looks off. If you're attending because of a previous back problem, recovering from surgery, or returning to exercise after pregnancy, that clinical eye matters. Equally, if you're simply after a well-run, friendly Pilates class with no clinical agenda at all, you're just as welcome.
Classes are mat-based and run in small groups of up to 9, so Laura can keep an eye on everyone's form and offer individual cues throughout the session. Expect a mix of core strength work, postural control, breathing, mobility and gentle full-body conditioning. It's the kind of movement work that underpins everything from picking up shopping and gardening to climbing, running and general day-to-day comfort. Just bring yourself and a mat and wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
