Physio at the Quay Climbing Centre, Exeter
Welcome to our original Quay Kinetics Physio clinic based inside The Quay Climbing Centre on Haven Banks in Exeter. We've been treating climbers, runners, walkers, and everyday people from this site for over a decade.
This is the clinic to choose if you're a climber, if you're coming from South Exeter, Topsham or Exminster, or if you just love the buzz of being inside one of the South West's biggest climbing gyms. Three of our team work from this clinic; Jen, Amy and Carmen and between them they cover spinal pain, climbing injuries, sports rehab, postnatal recovery, post-op recovery, vestibular rehab and complex musculoskeletal cases.

Why patients choose this clinic
Inside Exeter's biggest climbing gym. Easy access if you're already climbing or training. We can step out of the treatment room and assess you on the wall, something no other physio clinic in Exeter can offer.
The South Exeter, Topsham and Exminster choice. A short drive from anywhere south of the river. Easier than getting through town traffic to a city-centre clinic.
Genuine on-site expertise. Jen has over two decades of clinical experience including 4 years on the spinal team at the RD&E Hospital. Amy and Carmen bring deep musculoskeletal and sports rehab experience.
On-site rehab space. A dedicated downstairs gym with weights, squat rack, cable machine, kettlebells, and pull-up bars, so we can take rehab beyond the treatment room when you're ready for strength and loading work.
Easy parking nearby. Pay & display on Haven Road plus the private climbing centre car park or the council car park off Michael Browning Way.

Specialist Musculoskeletal physiotherapistHow to find us
We're on Haven Road, on the south side of the river just over the cantilever footbridge from Exeter Quayside. We're inside the large Victorian building that used to house Exeter's Electricity Works — now home to The Quay Climbing Centre. Pay & display parking is available directly on Haven Road, and there's a private car park next to the main building.
By car
The most direct option is the G bus, which runs from Exeter Bus Station to The Quay (10 minute journey, hourly Mon–Sat daytimes, £1.90 single). From the Quay bus stop, it's a 5-minute walk across the cantilever footbridge to our clinic.
If the G timings don't work for you, routes heading toward Alphington, Marsh Barton or Exwick pass within a 5-minute walk of Haven Banks, including the A, F1, F2, 4, 4A and 4B services from the city centre.
By bus
A 10–15 minute flat walk from Exeter city centre, mostly along the river. From the Quayside, cross the cantilever footbridge to Haven Banks, you'll see The Quay Climbing Centre's distinctive building straight ahead.
On foot
The Quayside cycle path runs directly past our front door, one of the most pleasant cycle commutes in Exeter. Bike racks are available right outside the climbing centre entrance.

What to expect when you arrive
A quick walk-through of what to expect from the moment you arrive.
Before 10am: The climbing centre's main blue doors may still be closed, don't worry, you're in the right place. Knock or wait — your physio will come down to meet you.
After 10am: Come straight through the blue doors and head up the stairs to the 1st floor. The climbing centre cafe doubles as our reception, grab a coffee if you've arrived early. Your physio will collect you from there at your appointment time.
Access — being honest with you. Our Quay clinic is on the 1st floor and accessed via a flight of stairs. There is no lift. If managing stairs is a problem for you, we'd recommend booking at our Boulder Exe clinic instead, it's ground-floor with step-free access throughout, and you'll see the same standard of care.

Yes. One of the unique advantages of being based inside the Quay Climbing Centre is that we can step out of the treatment room and watch you climb or boulder as part of your assessment. This is especially useful for finger, shoulder, and elbow injuries where loading patterns matter.

No, not at all. Anyone can come to us at the Quay clinic, climber or not. You walk through the climbing centre doors, head up to the 1st floor, and you're in. No need to book or pay for climbing centre access.
