More about Acupuncture

Western Medicine Acupuncture is a modern approach that merges traditional acupuncture techniques with scientific understanding, creating a powerful therapeutic tool for holistic well-being. At Quay Kinetics Physio, we offer Western Medicine Acupuncture as part of our comprehensive services, aiming to provide you with a balanced and effective approach to musculoskeletal health.

How Western Medicine Acupuncture Can Benefit You:

Pain Relief: Western Medicine Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body. This process stimulates the body's natural pain-relieving mechanisms, releasing endorphins and promoting a sense of relaxation. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain or acute discomfort, acupuncture can offer relief.

Muscle Relaxation: Acupuncture can effectively reduce muscle tension by enhancing blood circulation and promoting relaxation. It's an excellent choice for individuals seeking relief from muscle stiffness, knots, or spasms.

Enhanced Healing: By promoting circulation and improving energy flow, acupuncture can aid the body's natural healing processes. It can support tissue repair and regeneration, helping you recover from injuries more efficiently.

Stress Reduction: Western Medicine Acupuncture is renowned for its stress-reducing benefits. The process triggers the release of neurotransmitters that help regulate mood and reduce anxiety, leaving you with a profound sense of calm.

Balanced Well-Being: Acupuncture doesn't just target physical ailments; it also addresses the mind-body connection. It can help balance your energy, improve sleep quality, and promote an overall sense of well-being.

Who is Acupuncture NOT for?

There are a few contraindications to Acupuncture that you can read all about via the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists here.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce endorphins and oxytocin, its own pain and stress-relieving chemicals. It may promote sleep by stimulating the release of melatonin in the body, and may encourage a sense of well-being by stimulating the release of serotonin. Acupuncture also stimulates nerve fibres to block out pain, signals and helps to reduce the sensitivity of tendon points in the body.
